In a cultural moment defined by constant stimulation and the acceleration of artificial intelligence, NURSERY offers a counterpoint — a living environment for collective rest and regeneration.
For seven hours, Mitya Staev inhabited a room transformed into a soft, breathing organism. Fabrics extended from windows like lungs; the floor was covered in textile layers that invited the body to lie down, to move slowly, to simply be. The space functioned as a sanctuary for the post-AI body-mind, proposing presence as a form of care and resistance.

Unlike traditional performance, NURSERY unfolded as an open system — a shared practice of being rather than doing. Visitors were invited to co-inhabit the space: barefoot, without devices, free to breathe, sound, rest, or connect in silence. The work blurred the boundary between performer and audience, transforming spectatorship into mutual co-regulation and embodied awareness.
At its core, NURSERY reimagines performance as a practice of nurture — a gentle recalibration of nervous systems shaped by digital intensity. Through slowness, touch, and breath, Staev’s work gestures toward a simplicity where presence itself becomes an act of creation.
